Prom
After reading the article on the expenses of Prom, I say that it's to expensive. There is no reason to spend more than 70 dollars for dinner. For 30 dollars and an earlier trip to Costco, I can make a soup better than the Olive Garden's spicy sausage potato soup. And limousine's are overrated. 80 dollars an hour for the cheapest one and a 5 hour minimum for prom? No one on this planet could convince me to spend 400 dollars for a drive to and from a dance especially if I'm not going to be in the car most of the evening. The tuxedo and dress prices are understandable since formal clothing has always been more expensive than everyday informal clothing, but I would rather buy a tuxedo than rent one in case I ever need to use it again.

Journal 9
The first transaction I made this week was with First Solar Inc. I bought 400 shares of this stock at $31.20 a share. The price for the stock has currently dropped down to $26.91 and is slowly making up the money I lost when I bought it at the higher price. I bought it at 31.20 because it's 52 week range showed that it had potential to rise up to around $40 a share. I will continue to hold onto this stock until I recover the money I lost in trading it.
The second transaction I made this week was with Amazon. I've held onto Amazon for about 2 weeks now after buying it at $179.10 and selling it at $192.30 I trade with Amazon pretty regularly becuase it has frequent high swings and low swings. It will drop to a price inbetween $177 and $180 and will shortly after rise to around $189 to $194. I've noticed this swing is very periodic and have made profit off of buying when low and selling when high and then short selling when high and buying to cover when low.

Future
My plans for the future that i need to save money for is my senior trip, my first house, and an island off the coast of Chili
1 - For the Senior trip next year, i plan to go on a 5 day cruise and gamble away 500 dollars. I'll start with 100 dollars every day to begin with and put any winnings aside for later
2 - My first house will probably be a trailer house to hook up to the back of a truck. I'll spend about 25,000 dollars for one at most.
3 - the Isla San Pedro. A 16,000 acre island off the coast of Chile for 12 million dollars. Putting the money I get out of stock that I have planned for my future, I will purchase this island and live the rest of my days there.

Vocab 2
Risk- Risk is the chances you have of losing money on a stock
I invested in a new company with a large risk. I lost $30,000 dollars
Overhead Expense- Permanent costs; expenses that will always be there.
Because my father owns the Napa store, he has the overhead expense of rent and utilities.
Production Cost- the amount of money it takes to make a product to be sold
For a PS3 to be made, equipment, labor, and resources have to be paid for.
Budget Deficit- Spending more money than you make.
The U.S. has been in a Budget Deficit ever since the Clinton Administration ended

overhead expenses - Used to group expenses that are necessary to the continued functioning of the business but cannot be immediately associated with the products/services being offered.
production cost - the cost to have a consumer good made.
short sell - selling a stock that you don't own. The short seller gets basically gets a loan from the company that they short sell. If the price of the stock drops, the seller short covers the short sell and they get to keep the money from the loan without interest.
Mid cap- when a company makes in between $2 billion to $10 billion dollars.
Mid cap companies are less likely to file for bankruptcy than small cap companies
Large cap- companies that have a market cap between $10 and 200 billion dollars
The large cap company Apple makes many of the products used by many U.S. citizens

Mad Money
The video that we watched today was saying that if the prices in stock that you own drop that you shouldn't panic and sell the stocks but watch them and do some research on current events. If the price for your stocks takes a huge drop, buy some more.
Week 5 transactions
#1 the first transaction I made was Index pharmaceuticals. Pharmacy companies are always being used because there's always something wrong with someone. I bought 920 stocks at $11.77 and it has risen to 11.91. I plan to see it this stock will continue to rise or if it has reached the end of its high swing.
#2 the second transaction was selling Google. I had bought it earlier but it was near the end of its high swing and stated to drop so I sold it before I lost too much money. I sold it at 603 after buying it at 610.

Week 4 transactions
#1 the first transaction I made this week was with amazon I had short sold amazon earlier while it was at $184.87. With valentines day ending, it quickly dropped to $179.67. I bought to cover and made a profit of about $140
#2 the second transaction I made was with RPC. I honestly don't know what it does but I looked at its 52 week range and it was kind of low. I bought 350 stocks for 14.94 each and it has risen to 16.32 and I have made a profit of 484 dollars. It has continuedn to grow in price so I plan to hold onto it.

Valentines Day
I thought that the tax article had a little bit of good info on the increased pricing but could have told exactly why things had huge tax increases instead of just saying that there was.
The second article I thought was pretty useless. It was just letters from kids who wanted to complain about Valentines Day and what it meaning is. There was no info in the letters about why Valentines day is "over-commercialized", just people complaining that it is.

Week 3 Transactions
#1 The first transaction I made this week was with 52 shares of Amazon. I looked at the price for it and it was at $194.91. This is close to its 52 week high so I short sold it. It fluxuated going to $193 down to 189.46 for about a week then it dropped down to 177.26. This is around it's 52 week low so I decided to "buy to cover" the shares that I owned. With this transaction I made a little under $1000.
#2 The second transaction I made this week was with Amazon again. After I bought to cover them at 177.24, I bought the stocks immediately afterwards. Amazon is notorious for Have large fluctuations in its price and I saw this as an opportunity to make more money off of this stock. I've held onto it for about 9 days and it has risen to 187.68.

Week 2 Transactions
#1 I short sold the stock Amazon because I saw it was high in it's 52 week average. With valentines day nearby I'm sure there is going to be alot of people who forgot to get something or saw something they want to get for someone. During Valentines people usually get other people flowers, chocolate, or some other kind of gift so companies that sell those kinds of things will also increase a bit and Amazon is like walking around in Walmart withou the walking. If you want to get someone something a little more expensive and flashy than flowers than I'm pretty sure people will look online. The stock is currently at 195.03 and I expect it will rise during this time but after Valentines I expect it to drop down again.
#2 I have also short sold Apple. Apples current price is 447.27. It is also at a high in its 52 week range so I believe it drop here soon. As with Amazon, Valentines day is close by and I'm pretty sure that people will be buying some kind of product made by Apple such as Ipods, Ipads, etc. After valentines day, I believe this stock will drop to a much lower price of 400 dollars.

Week 1 Transactions
#1 Amazon was the first company that I bought stocks from. As I'm sure everyone knows, amazon is a large online store that sells almost everything there is to be sold. I bought 56 stock for $178.14. I looked at the 52 week info from last year and found that the company's stock price can go as low as $160.97 and can go as high as 246.71 per share. I think it only went that high last year because of the new Kindle Fire they sold. I believe that the stock will will drop down to lower prices until they come out with some new again. The price for the stocks I own is at 194.38. Based on the low it had this year which was 179.53, I plan to sell it now and then short sell with the price dropping.
#2 The second stock that I made a transaction with was Rangold Recources. This is a gold mining company and with the U.S. coming out of the current recession, I'm almost certain the price for gold will decrease. I short sold this stock at 109.37. It's high last year was 199.44 and it's low was 72.47. True there is a chance it could go up instead of down based on the huge range, but the average price range was between $76 and $87. So far this year it's average price has been bewteen $92 and 106. I believe this stock will drop back into the average in about a week.

Candy Stocks
The room was hot, dark, and their was a chocolate odor in the air. We look around and we start to notice that their is candy everywhere! We started to push pass one another and tried to get as much candy as we could. Most of the candy were different kinds of chocolate, and a few suckers. When everyone had gotten their candy our teacher Mr. Kapptie wrote the names of the candy on a board and then put price's next to them. For each piece of a specific kind of candy we had, we basically got that much money. He was periodically changing the prices making them go up and making them go down similar to how the actually stock market works. We were walking around the room talking with one another and trying to trade a specific piece of candy for another piece that wasn't the same as the one we were trading. It was chaotic, hot, and quite annoying. The point of the game was to show us what it is like in The Pit at the stock exchange.
